I'm so glad you're here and considering working with an editor.
When I first started out, I didn't realize all the ways editors can help writers on their journey from the very early stages of getting ideas onto "paper" to a complete manuscript and query letter submitted to agents and publishers.
The good news is that I know a lot more now(!) after working for years alongside new and experienced writers on manuscripts at every stage.
As a developmental editor, my job isn't to correct you or to lead. Rather, I'm here to help bring out your best through professional feedback and support. That means I may ask questions and point out things you haven't considered, and then I'm there to answer your questions and support you as you decide what you want to do with that feedback.
My favorite parts of being an editor are meeting new people (real and fictional), gaining new perspectives, vicariously experiencing new situations, and, best of all, helping a writer feel confident and accomplish their goals. I would love to meet you and see if we're a fit for your project.
If you want a fresh perspective on your work, or you’re not sure what type of edit you need, a beta read is a great option to get feedback on your manuscript from a reader’s point of view.
If you'd like high-level editorial feedback on an early draft, a manuscript evaluation will provide you with a summary of strengths and big-picture areas for improvement.
Once you've completed your manuscript, a deep-dive developmental edit provides you with detailed feedback on big-picture issues and actionable recommendations for your consideration.
There are many types of editing and steps along the way to publication. I offer a range of additional editing services to help you on that journey, including line editing, coaching, book proposal and query letter preparation, and more.
